How do I know if you are a good mentor for me?

Trust is important in any relationship. You should feel completely comfortable with me and feel assured that I completely understand your needs. Our personalities should match. Check my experience and see whether this is something you want to learn more about. I offer a complimentary consultation to understand your needs and goals. Contact me to discuss more details.

What kind of things will we discuss during the mentoring program?

You will set the agenda, and this may include telling me how your training is going and if any issues have arisen that you’d like to discuss. It may also include discussion about how to improve the work/life balance. You may choose to include personal and professional development goals, learning needs and career choices, or anything that is important to you including personal matters that impinge on work.

Are mentoring and coaching identical?

No. People often confuse mentoring and coaching. Though related, they are not the same. A mentor may coach, but a coach is not a mentor. Mentor is usually more experienced and qualified than the ‘mentee’. Often a senior person in the organisation who can pass on knowledge, experience and open doors to otherwise out-of-reach opportunities. Coaching is generally not performed on the basis that the coach needs to have direct experience of their client’s formal occupational role, unless the coaching is specific and skills-focused. There are other significant differences.

How do I know if you are a good fit for my event?

Trust is important in any relationship. You should feel completely comfortable with the planner and feel assured that he or she completely understands what your needs are. Your personalities should match. I believe that it is important to look for an event planner that understands your vision and needs and can execute them flawlessly. I offer a complimentary consultation where we can discuss your idea/event and you'll get a better understanding of how I can bring another dimension to your event planning process. I will also answer any questions you may have. Examples of the events that I organised can also give you an idea whether I would be a good fit.

How is life coaching different from counselling and psychotherapy?

Life coaching deals with the present and future and it focuses on action. It does not examine the past but instead creates your future. The life coaching I provide is therapeutic, but it is not therapy. Counselling and psychotherapy usually deal with problems and healing entails working with the past as well as the present.

Which geographical areas do you serve?

I coach in person in Barcelona, Spain. Although I can meet you in a location of your choice, anywhere in the world, if you are willing to pay for my expenses. I also offer coaching sessions by phone/the Internet. Your geographical location is not important, as I have worked with clients in Hong Kong and South Africa.
